Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter-Due by 8:00p.m.

Complete the letter below:
PROMPT
At this point in your reading, you probably have some opinion about Hester's guilt, her punishment, and whether or not she should be allowed to keep Pearl.
Your assignment is to write a letter to Governor Bellingham regarding your opinion about what he should do about Hester.
PREWRITING
If you have some difficulty forming an opinion, consider some of these issues: Should she keep or give up Pearl? Was making her wear the letter "A" a fair punishment? What punishment would you have thought appropriate for Hester, if any?
You must use at least two pieces of textual support from different chapters. You are only answering one of the above questions, or addressing another topic that is embedded in the text but not in the prompt.
DRAFTING
One way to structure your letter would be to make an introductory paragraph
introducing yourself as a concerned citizen of Boston and stating your point. Follow that with a few paragraphs(at least 2) giving reasons for your point. (Each reason would be a topic sentence.) Fill in the paragraphs with examples supporting your reasons(using two pieces of textual support as mentioned above). Make a concluding paragraph thanking the governor for his time and his consideration of your opinions.

Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter

What an interesting text we are reading! Initially, we started by making a personal connection by identifying people in similar a situation to Hester Prynne. Today, I want you to display your understanding of the text and make a deeper connection by completing the following: 1) analyze Hester Prynne's character using three adjectives and three quotes. 2) Create three level 2 and 3 questions (a total of 6 ) 3) Write a personal response to the text-What are your thoughts? Which character do you like/hate? How do you think Hester would be treated today? This is just an initial response to the text based on your understanding.
YOUR RESPONSE WILL BE ON MY PAGE AS A COMMENT. I WILL RESPOND TO YOUR POST!

Eulogy responses

Gentlemen,
For the most part I am impressed with the work I have seen. Keep in the forefront of your mind that this, our blogs, is an academic arena. Therefore, I am requesting all music and twitts to be removed from your pages. Additionally, encourage everyone you blog with to add to my page. I attempted to make responses to each and every one of you, but found difficulty doing so.
I was the most impressed with the response typed by Nick. Great job Nick. I look forward to our next response. Continue to read and annotate. You will be tested on author's purpose, use of language and in a timed setting.

If you have questions or concerns, please be sure to email.

As you continue to grow into young men, it is imperative that you stop the complaining and prepare yourself. Use my challenges as your motivation to prove me wrong.

Lastly, some of the people have posted their blogs incorrectly and that must be fixed. I suggest everyone that is having difficutly begin again, because I want all pages posted by the 21st. Time is ticking. I look forward to reading and seeing things on your site that will blow me away academically. Remember that other teachers and administrators will look at this site.
